bushel

Unit of volume in US grain industry. In metric terms, grain is typically measured in tonnes.

CA container Container with controlled atmosphere.
caking

Hardening of bulk cargo caused by a release of water vapour. Causes the formation of lumps if moisture is present in salts or sugars

Catenary anchor leg mooring, a type of buoy mooring, see also SBM, SPM.

capacitive network Data network with capacitive coupling to the power network for remote monitoring of refrigerated containers.
CARB California Air Resources Board. State of California organisation which is, independently of central government, producing regulations to restrict engine emissions in and around their ports.
cargo information This is an online system for transport professionals containing transport-related risk and damage prevention information which can be called up via TIS.
cargo sweat Condensation on the surface of the cargo: Condensation can form on the cargo as a result of climatic conditions. Cargo sweat can always occur when the temperature of the cargo is lower than or equal to the dew point. It can also occur during transportation from temperate latitudes, e.g. from northern-hemisphere winter to the tropics.
carnage

Types of shore crane used for loading/discharging ships. Ship's cranes are usually referred to as ship's gear, or gearless if none
