Nicola is the executive editor of Fairplay. She joined IHS Markit in February 2016 after a long association with Lloyd’s List where she directed news and feature content. In addition to launching Lloyd’s List’s flagship print product, The Intelligence, in September 2015, Nicola was the custodian of the annual Top 100 ranking and Next Generation product. A newsroom veteran with more than 20 years’ experience, Nicola started her career with Independent Newspapers South Africa after graduating from Rhodes University. She was named international editor of the year in 2016 by the Seahorse Club. 


Namrata Nadkarni

Namrata Nadkarni is an award-winning maritime journalist with an MSc from the London School of Economics. She has been involved in the industry as a writer for more than a decade, working on publications such as The Marine Professional, Lloyd’s List, Seatrade magazine, Seatrade Cruise Review, and Marine Engineer’s Review. Namrata is passionate about a number of topics, including crew welfare, environmental regulation, diversity, and inclusion in the maritime world, as well as emerging technology. She joined Fairplay as deputy executive editor.


Greg Miller

Greg Miller is the senior commerce editor of Fairplay, overseeing global business coverage. Prior to 2016, he served as IHS Maritime and Trade’s Americas editor since 2004, specialising in US-listed shipping companies and Americas energy commodity transport, as well as banking and legal issues. Before joining IHS Markit, he was the senior editor at Cruise Industry News for seven years and editor-in-chief of the Virgin Islands Business Journal for five years. He graduated from Cornell University in 1990.


Penny Thomas

Penny Thomas is the editor of the International Association of Ports and Harbor’s official magazine, Ports & Harbors. Prior to her current role, she was the EMEA managing editor and has been part of the IHS Maritime & Trade team since 2004. Penny joined IHS Markit as assistant editor for Safety at Sea magazine before becoming the title’s editor. She then edited Ports & Harbors and developed a keen interest in port infrastructure and logistics.

Turloch Mooney

Turloch Mooney is a well-known, Asia-based supply chain journalist. He was co-founder and managing director of Supply Chain Asia, a publication based in Shanghai, China. He previously held posts at IATA (International Air Transport Association) as chief editor and secretary for the Global Compliance User Group. He holds a master’s degree in international studies from the University of Limerick, Ireland, with specialisation in international law and international trade. His area of specialisation will be global ports, covering issues such as port congestion, competition, mega-ship impact, productivity, hinterland access, and relevant supply chain issues.


Yannick Guerry

Yannick Guerry is Fairplay’s news editor. His role includes managing digital news flow on the site, producing multimedia content, and overseeing the social media. He was previously a Safety at Sea reporter. Before joining IHS Markit, he trained at the BBC and worked for a Press Association-owned B2B journal. He graduated with a degree in history before undertaking postgraduate studies in journalism.


Greg Knowler

Greg Knowler has worked in mainstream media and with B2B magazines for more than 20 years. After completing a hotel management apprenticeship, his journalism career began in 1989 as a reporter for a daily newspaper in Durban, South Africa. In 2000, he relocated to Hong Kong and spent two years at the South China Morning Post sports desk before joining Cargonews Asia, where he rose to the role of editor and publisher. He joined JOC Group in 2014 as Asia senior editor and established himself as an influential journalist covering container shipping and related issues. He is currently Fairplay’s Asia editor and oversees all Asia editorial coverage for JOC.com and Fairplay.IHS.com.


Devlin McStay

Devlin McStay is Fairplay’s data analyst. He joined the team in January 2016 after working in the IHS Markit Maritime and trade data section. Devlin has a degree in marine navigation from the University of Plymouth, and he received the Nautical Institute’s prize for outstanding contribution to maritime policy while pursuing further studies at the Greenwich Maritime Institute in 2013.


John Gallagher

John Gallagher is Washington, DC-based senior Americas correspondent for Fairplay, specialising in regulation and risk. He specialises in US container trades, offshore, dredging and port construction, and US maritime regulations. Prior to joining IHS Markit in 2009, he covered the US trucking and rail sectors for Traffic World magazine and the Journal of Commerce for 10 years. He graduated from Florida State University with an English and business degree.


Nick Savvides

Nick Savvides joined Fairplay as markets editor in January 2017. Most recently the editor of Naval Architect, the Royal Institute of Naval Architects’ flagship publication, Nick has also worked as news editor on Containerisation International’s website, ci-online, and the Chemical Tanker Price Report, an ICIS publication, before joining Lloyd’s Register as a publications editor.


Simin Ngai

Simin Ngai joined Fairplay in December 2015 as principal journalist, Singapore. Simin has more than six years of experience in the oil and energy sector. Prior to joining Fairplay, Simin was an oil market consultant, a role in which she analysed data to create content. At Platts, Simin was a forward curves editor, generating up to five stories a day. She has an honours degree in business from Singapore’s top university, National University of Singapore.


Tanya Blake

Tanya Blake joined IHS Markit as editor of Safety at Sea in April 2017. She previously specialised in writing about the engineering sector and worked for three years on a title for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Starting as assistant editor, she eventually became acting editor of Professional Engineering magazine. Before this, she worked as a reporter for B2B magazines covering a range of topics in the trade sector. She graduated from the University of Sussex, where she studied English literature.

Han Chen

Based in Beijing, Han Chen is Fairplay’s China reporter. Prior to joining IHS Markit, he worked with China Finance Online and SEEC Media Group, where he covered stories on Chinese economics and business and wrote and edited business news on public companies, as well as the magazine’s economics column. He graduated from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada, with a business degree and is passionate about policy, economics, and business.


Ines Nastali

Ines Nastali joined IHS Markit in September 2018 as the Editor of Dredging and Ports Construction magazine. Previously, she was the editor of the specialist materials science titles Materials World and Clay Technology, the membership publications of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in London. Ines started her maritime journalism career in 2015  at The Marine Professional after having graduated from London’s City University with a Masters in Science Journalism.
