Nicola is the executive editor of Fairplay.ihs.com. She joined IHS Markit in February 2016 after a long association with Lloyd’s List where she directed news and feature content. In addition to launching Lloyd’s List’s new flagship print product, The Intelligence, in September 2015, Nicola was the custodian of the annual Top 100 ranking and Next Generation product. A newsroom veteran with more than 20 years’ experience, Nicola started her career with Independent Newspapers South Africa after graduating from Rhodes University.
Richard Clayton, one of the foremost maritime journalists working today, is chief correspondent, writing opinion columns in several IHS publications exploring key issues such as new technology, crewing, shipbuilding and maritime safety. Before his current position, Mr Clayton served as editor of IHS Maritime Fairplay magazine. He frequently attends global maritime industry events as a moderator or speaker and holds degrees from the universities of Lancaster and Plymouth, UK.
Greg Miller is the senior commerce editor of IHS Fairplay, overseeing global business coverage. Prior to 2016, he served as IHS Maritime and Trade’s Americas editor since 2004, specialising in US-listed shipping companies and Americas energy commodity transport, as well as banking and legal issues. Prior to joining IHS, he was the senior editor at Cruise Industry News for seven years and the editor in chief of the Virgin Islands Business Journal for five years. He graduated from Cornell University in 1990.
Penny Thomas is publications managing editor for IHS Maritime and Trade, overseeing the production of IHS Fairplay, IHS Safety at Sea, IHS Dredging and Port Construction and the International Association of Ports and Harbor’s official magazine, Ports & Harbors. Prior to her current role she was the EMEA managing editor and has been part of the IHS Maritime & Trade team since 2004. Penny joined IHS as assistant editor for Safety at Sea magazine before becoming the title’s editor. She then edited Ports & Harbors and developed a keen interest in port infrastructure and logistics.
Turloch Mooney is a well-known Asia-based supply chain journalist. He was co-founder and managing director for Supply Chain Asia Publication based in Shanghai, China. He previously held posts at IATA (International Air Transport Association) as chief editor and secretary for the Global Compliance User Group. He holds a master’s degree in international studies from the University of Limerick, Ireland, with specialisation in international law and international trade. His area of specialisation will be global ports, covering issues such as port congestion, competition, mega-ship impact, productivity, hinterland access and relevant supply chain issues.
Yannick Guerry is digital content editor for Fairplay.IHS.com. His role includes management of digital news flow on the site, production of multimedia content and oversight of the social media. He was previously an IHS Safety at Sea reporter. Before joining IHS, he trained at the BBC and worked for a Press Association-owned B2B journal. He graduated with a degree in history before undertaking postgraduate studies in journalism.
Greg Knowler has more than 20 years with mainstream media and B2B magazines. After completing a hotel management apprenticeship, his journalism career began in 1989 as a reporter for a daily newspaper in Durban, South Africa. In 2000, he relocated to Hong Kong and spent two years at the South China Morning Post sports desk before joining Cargonews Asia, where he rose to the role of editor and publisher. He joined JOC Group in 2014 as Asia senior editor and established himself as an influential journalist covering container shipping and related issues. He was recently promoted to Asia editor for IHS Maritime & Trade where he oversees all Asia editorial coverage for JOC.com and Fairplay.IHS.com.
Devlin McStay is Fairplay’s data analyst. He joined the team in January 2016 after working in the IHS Markit Maritime and trade data section. Devlin has a degree in Marine Navigation from the University of Plymouth and he received the Nautical Institute's prize for outstanding contribution to maritime policy while pursuing further studies at the Greenwich Maritime Institute in 2013.
John Gallagher is Washington, DC-based senior Americas correspondent for IHS Maritime & Trade, with a specialisation in regulation and risk. He specialises in US container trades, offshore, dredging and port construction and US maritime regulations. Prior to joining IHS in 2009 he covered the US trucking and rail sectors for Traffic World magazine and the Journal of Commerce for 10 years. He graduated from Florida State University with an English and business degree.
Nick Savvides joined Fairplay as markets editor in January 2017. Most recently the editor of the Naval Architect, the Royal Institute of Naval Architect’s flagship publication, Nick has also worked as news editor on Containerisation International’s website, ci-online and the Chemical Tanker Price Report, an ICIS publication, before joining Lloyd’s Register as a publications editor.
Simin Ngai joined Faiplay in December 2015 as Principal Journalist, Singapore. Simin has more than six years of experience in the oil and energy sector. Prior to joining Fairplay, Simin was an oil market consultant where she analysed data to create content. At Platts, Simin was a forward curves editor, generating up to five stories a day and has an honours degree in Business from Singapore's top university, NUS.
Lisa Maher is the editor of Dredging and Ports Construction. Lisa has more than 30 years of editing trade association, in-house, financial, specialist report and B2B publications across the biotechnology, foods, chemicals and metals sectors. Prior to her current role she was a publications editor with IHS Maritime & Trade, working across four maritime magazines but specialising in dredging, port construction and liaison with industry associations.
